This poster was created by Morac in 1951 for the French organisation Peace and Freedom<\/em> (Peace and Freedom), in the context of the Cold War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peace and Freedom<\/em> was a French anti-communist movement that was active between 1950 and 1956. According to this movement, the French Communist Party pretended to be pacifist, but in reality it only spread Soviet propaganda throughout France. For this reason, Peace and Freedom<\/em> focused on creating anti-communist propaganda to counteract these actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This propaganda map seeks to equate European unity as the only possible response to the advance of communism. To this end, it personifies Europe as a girl with an umbrella on which the flags of various European countries can be seen, with which she defends herself from the communist storm represented in the upper left corner by dark clouds and various symbols of the hammer and sickle. In addition, the author also slightly darkens part of Russian territory in an attempt to indicate the difficult times that communism, the storm, was bringing to the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
