Grose raises the issue of the large volume of immigration into the United States, mainly from Europe, as being of a <em>breed<\/em> and religion different from the predominant one in the country. Grose was not against immigration as such, but he was a champion of eradicating all cultural particularities of immigrants, as well as pushing for the conversion of all inhabitants of the United States to Christianity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This particular map shows the different <em>breeds<\/em> of Europe (a term from that era, but now completely outdated and without any scientific basis).
