Pereira on the United States of Colombia. The map was printed by the French publisher Georges Erhard Schieble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The United States of Colombia was a federal state that existed between 1861 and 1886. It was the successor to <a href=\"https:\/\/mapasmilhaud.com\/en\/old-maps\/map-of-gran-colombia-and-its-departments-1824\/\" title=\"Map of Gran Colombia and its departments (1824)\">Gran Colombia<\/a> and comprised the present-day countries of Panama and Colombia, as well as a territory that currently belongs to Peru and Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The United States of Colombia was composed of the following nine federal states:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mapasmilhaud.com\/en\/old-maps\/map-of-the-state-of-antioquia-colombia-1864\/\" title=\"Map of the state of Antioquia, Colombia (1864)\">Antioquia<\/a><\/strong>, with its capital in Medell\u00edn (although on this map it is marked as Santa Fe de Antioquia).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mapasmilhaud.com\/en\/old-maps\/map-of-the-state-of-bolivar-colombia-1864\/\" title=\"Map of the state of Bol\u00edvar, Colombia (1864)\">Bol\u00edvar<\/a><\/strong>, with its capital in Cartagena de Indias.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mapasmilhaud.com\/en\/old-maps\/map-of-the-state-of-boyaca-colombia-1864\/\" title=\"Map of the department of Boyac\u00e1, Colombia (1864)\">Boyac\u00e1<\/a><\/strong>, with its capital in Tunja.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mapasmilhaud.com\/en\/old-maps\/map-of-the-state-of-cauca-colombia-1864\/\" title=\"Map of the state of Cauca, Colombia (1864)\">Cauca<\/a><\/strong>, with its capital in Popay\u00e1n.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mapasmilhaud.com\/en\/old-maps\/map-of-the-department-of-cundinamarca-colombia-1864\/\" title=\"Map of the state of Cundinamarca, Colombia (1864)\">Cundinamarca<\/a><\/strong>, with its head office in Bogot\u00e1.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mapasmilhaud.com\/en\/old-maps\/map-of-the-state-of-magdalena-colombia-1864\/\" title=\"Map of the state of Magdalena, Colombia (1864)\">Magdalena<\/a><\/strong>, with its capital in Santa Marta.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mapasmilhaud.com\/en\/old-maps\/map-of-the-state-of-panama-colombia-1864\/\" title=\"Map of the state of Panama, Colombia (1864)\">Panama<\/a><\/strong>, with its head office in Panama.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mapasmilhaud.com\/en\/old-maps\/map-of-the-state-of-santander-colombia-1864\/\" title=\"Map of the state of Santander, Colombia (1864)\">Santander<\/a><\/strong>, with its capital in El Socorro (although on this map it is marked as Bucaramanga, which was only the capital until 1861).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mapasmilhaud.com\/en\/old-maps\/map-of-the-state-of-tolima-colombia-1864\/\" title=\"Map of the state of Tolima, Colombia (1864)\">Tolima<\/a><\/strong>, with its capital in Ibagu\u00e9 (although on this map it is marked as Neiva, which was only the capital until 1870).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the Colombian civil war of 1884\u20131885, the Conservative Party established a centralist republic that brought an end to the United States of Colombia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sources<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/babel.banrepcultural.org\/digital\/collection\/p17054coll13\/id\/18\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Former Viceroyalty of New Granada, now the United States of Colombia<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This map appears in a book published in 1883 by Ricardo S.
