title=\"\">InSight Crime<\/a>, shows the homicide rate per 100,000 inhabitants in 2021 in Latin America and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The map uses a colour code to show the countries where homicides are most common and those where they are least common:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Red: rates between 40 and 50 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants (Jamaica and Venezuela).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Orange: rates between 30 and 40 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants (Honduras and Trinidad and Tobago).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Yellow: rates between 20 and 30 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants (Belize, Colombia, and Mexico).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dark blue: rates between 10 and 20 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants (Puerto Rico, Brazil, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Light blue: rates between 0 and 10 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants (Uruguay, Paraguay, Nicaragua, Peru, and Chile).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grey: countries without data (Bolivia, Argentina, Surinam, and Cuba).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Argentina and Bolivia appear without information on this map, the official rate used in 2021 is 5 and 3.5 respectively, so they would have been coloured light blue if InSight Crime had had the data at the time this infographic was created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3
