This map, created by the website Visual Capitalist<\/a>, shows the 50 cities in the United States with more than 25,000 inhabitants that have the highest crime rates per capita. The data has been extracted from the website. Neighbourhood Scout<\/a> and provide data published in October 2022 that refer to the year 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the cities most affected by crime are several cities of significant historical importance that in recent decades have faced a major recession due to the displacement of industrial centres, such as Memphis, Detroit, Cleveland, Baltimore, St. Louis, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bessemer, Alabama, has the dubious honour of being ranked as the most dangerous city in the United States, where in 2021 there was one crime for every 30 residents. Bessemer is a suburb of Birmingham, which is also one of the cities with more than 200,000 residents that appears higher on the list, in sixth place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
