Shah is a US puppet (1977)

This poster was published by the Iranian Students Association in the United States (ISAUS) in November 1977, to advertise demonstrations against the visit of Sah Mohammad Reza Pahlevi to the United States.

ISAUS was an organisation that was initially created under the umbrella of the Iranian embassy in the US in the 1950s, but later became one of the most active US associations against the Sah's policies in Iran and US influence.

In this poster, a map of Iran shows many faces behind bars, a direct reference to the political prisoners and torture carried out by the Sah's regime in Iran. At the top, a plane can also be seen flying over the country, which is a reference to human rights according to Jimmy Carter (the US president at the time). The plane is dropping bombs over Iran, all of them labelled with military equipment that the US was providing to the Sah.

At the bottom left is also a caricature of the Sah, with a crown bearing a swastika and dollars, which is also labelled with CIA and Made in US.
