The growth of Gibraltar (2021)

This map, created by Abel Gil Lobo for the website El Orden Mundial, represents the territorial expansion of Gibraltar.

Gibraltar is one of the United Kingdom's overseas territories, located at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, bordering the province of Cádiz in Spain.

This territory, located around an imposing rock, was ceded by Spain after the Treaty of Utrecht. The map shows in red the territory it occupied immediately after the cession, while yellow and green show subsequent expansions between 1854 and 2020. The map also shows the territorial waters recognised by Spain (in blue) and the neutral territory (with yellow stripes).
