Political map of Europe (1733)

This detailed map, created in 2023 by Gustav Ståhlberg, shows the political situation in Europe in the year 1733.

This year, Augustus II of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth dies without a clear successor, sparking the War of the Polish Succession, a civil war that spreads across the continent. One successor has the support of France, while another has the backing of Russia and Austria, involving the continent's major powers.

The map shows the Holy Roman Empire, marked with a red line, which at that time was under the rule of Emperor Charles VI.
