Amazon River Basin (2024)

This map, published by Gernot Nikolaus in 2024, shows the Amazon River basin.

The map shows the vast expanse of the Amazon basin, which is the largest in the world, covering some 7 million square kilometres. It stretches from the eastern slopes of the Andes mountain range to the Atlantic Ocean, located at the top of the illustration.

Between the main river and its various tributaries, the Amazon basin covers a large part of Brazil, but also parts of Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam and French Guiana.
