This illustration, created by Terence Teo, represents the population density of the island of Ireland, including the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. To do this, Terence has extracted the data available at Kontur Population with which it generates columns using a programme, with a height that represents the population density at each point.
This map of Ireland shows the two main population centres in Dublin and Belfast, the capitals of Ireland and Northern Ireland, respectively. The rest of the cities have a much lower population density, although some stand out on the map, such as Cork, Limerick, Galway and Derry.
