Burglaries worldwide (2021)

This infographic shows the prevalence of burglaries worldwide, with data from 2018.

The map was published in 2021 as a study by Budget Direct, an Australian insurer. Given the conflict of interest, the information on this map must be interpreted within the context of the insurer's potential conflict of interest, including the potential propaganda value of this map.

Countries with the highest ratio of burglaries per 100,000 homes are shown in red, with Peru at the top of the list, followed by Seychelles and Australia. At the other end of the scale, in blue, Bangladesh is at the bottom, followed by Nigeria and Egypt.

In addition to the potential propaganda interest, it is also important to understand that not all thefts are reported equally in all countries, as the absence of legal protection or insurance may make it unnecessary or counterproductive to report and denounce this type of theft.
