According to toponymy studies conducted by the Norwegian government, there are more than 300 places in the country whose names are related to the word 'hell'. On the map, the author shows all these places and labels them with a different icon depending on the type of geographical feature:

  • Mountains

  • Rocks or rocky islets
  • Forests
  • Waterfalls
  • Swamps
  • Settlements

Each icon is accompanied by the name of the geographical feature, as well as the municipality in which it is located in brackets.
