Spanish as a mother tongue in Peru (2007)

This map shows the percentage of Peruvians whose mother tongue is Spanish in each region of the country, according to data from the 2007 census.

Spanish is the mother tongue of 80% of Peruvians, with Quechua as the second most common mother tongue, with 16% of native speakers, and Aymara in third place with just over 2%. Currently, more than 50 languages are spoken in Peru, many of which are in danger of being lost.
